Eagle Camera Fundraiser
Delaware Botanic Gardens recently met their fundraising goal to install an Eagle Camera along the gardens 1,000 feet of Pepper Creek shoreline where an eagle’s nest is located. The campaign began during the Delaware’s Do More 24 Campaign March 7-8.
Thank you to everyone who supported and shared news of our bald eagle hatch and the rearing of two eaglet chicks.
We are pleased to report the two juvenile eagles are growing rapidly. Guests often observe the pair sitting on the edge of the nest, stretching their wings. The parents are spending more time away from the nest searching for food as the young eagles are expected to fledge the nest around late June. We anticipate the large nest to be vacated by late July or early August.
The Eagle Camera installation is scheduled for late September, and we plan to have the camera fully operational by early October. We anticipate the return of the male eagle around mid-December with the female typically returning a few weeks later .
